Sometimes Rules are Made to be Broken

If you are familiar with me or my style, you know my love for all things monogrammed, especially napkins. There are definitely rules for where to place a napkin when entertaining but I am throwing caution to the wind.

Rules Must Be Broken

We moved into our library for this gathering and cleared the stacks of books off the table. When I saw how pretty the natural linen napkins looked with my dining chairs that we had placed at the library table I decided to break the rules. I ironed the napkins to give them a little form and hung them over the back of the chairs.  So far, no sirens, no napkin police.

So what are the options for napkin placement? Many!

To the left usually when placed beside or under the forks. Between the charger and the dinner plate (great way for a monogram to peek out). On top of the salad plate stacked on the dinner plate either with or without a napkin ring. Of course, there is always the fun pop with placing a napkin in the stemmed wine glass. Perfect for a casual table with whimsy.

The choices are endless!

Even without a monogram, napkins are essential for dinner and the perfect way to change up your place settings.
